Wes Anderson met with journalist Matt Zoller Seitz at the Algonquin Hotel in February 2014 for a lengthy interview about The Grand Budapest Hotel. The conversation took place over more than two hours at a small table in the hotel's main lobby and continued at another table in an adjacent bar.

Wes Anderson filmed his 2007 short film Hotel Chevalier, starring Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman, at Hôtel Raphael. The film was shot by a small crew of 15 in Panavision and was edited by Anderson on his computer, taking two-and-a-half days to film and another week to edit. The hotel is located two blocks south-southwest of the Arc de Triomphe.
