Wilde stayed at the Savoy in March 1893 in adjoining rooms (360 and 362) with Lord Alfred Douglas. He and Douglas racked up a large bill during their month-long stay, which later became evidence in the prosecution against Wilde. The hotel was the first in Britain to feature electric lights and modern amenities.

Kettner's was one of the first French restaurants in Soho, opened in 1867. Wilde was among the prominent figures who visited the venue at its lounge and champagne bar. It is now a private members' club run by Soho House comprising seven Georgian townhouses.
